5 Must Skills You Need As A Leader

Sosepriala Dede
What defines a good and bad leader is always debated and is a topic of heated discussion. However we all have come across some leadership personalities and according to our personal experience with them, we classify them as good and bad. In a nutshell, the topic becomes subjective and less objective. It is right to say that there is no single right way to all circumstances, so one prominent trait among leaders is flexibility, malleability, and adaptability. Let this be clear that leaders are not just people who rule or command on a certain level of the hierarchy. Instead, we all can become our leaders and practice our leadership skills in our daily lives. This way life can become more organized, structured and a little predictable. Here are some 5 skills set that every leader practices to achieve their goals and targets.

Strategic thinking:

What distinguishes leaders with managers is thinking strategically. A manager lacks an idea and vision and complies with the orders and conditions to meet the needs and fulfill the requirements of the company. Whereas a leader gathers, analyzes and understands the information and through it form a strategy. His hood strategic thinking must always be based on evidence.

Planning and delivery:

Vision becomes unproductive and barren without proper planning. It is the most important skill among leaders that they plan and convert it into deliverables. Planning ahead of you helps to predict the odds, manage changes and prepare the person for the up comings. Planning requires some management skills to complete the delivery of the task.

Communication:

The most important skill that you must know is having good communication skills. A leader becomes most effective when he can communicate properly to his people and his team. Good leaders tend to be extremely good listeners, able to listen actively and elicit information by good questioning. These skills come together to help to build charisma, that quality of ‘brightness’ which makes people want to follow a leader.

Decisiveness:

Leaders show great consistency with their decisions, rarely backing out or changing their minds unless it is necessary. Being decisive shows commitment, a quality very high in demand for a great leader.

Time management:

Time management is indeed life management. Diving your time to do small tasks and achieve your goal helps to save time and complete the task efficiently. It also allows a person to learn and invest time into new things which helps them to nourish their personalities.
