Importance of Skills:

Every job has some requirements. These requirements are a group of different skills that accumulate and become a necessity for a particular position. Similarly, a business development professional has a different set of required skills that help him become an expert in his job and allow him to guide and mentor others who wish to become like him. The qualities that the professional possess have a great impact on the business helping it to grow and prosper but if the company chooses the individual with the wrong set of skills, this can become a reason and contribute to the downfall of the company as well. Therefore the individual with the rights skills should always be hired for this position. Some skills should be present in a business development manager which can help him in his job and help the company as well.

Required skills for a business development manager:

The skills mentioned below are more related to the individual’s personality.

Communication Skills:

The particular individual should have amazing communication skills. He should be able to communicate with everyone including his line leader and his team members perfectly. He should be clear about his goals and objectives and be able to communicate to his team as well who are comfortable enough to work with him and help him achieve his set goals and objectives for the company. If he does not possess good communication skills, there might be times when problems arise due to lack of communication where the team might feel they have been misguided or might even face a lack of communication.

Problem Solving Skills:

This skill is a major requirement in a lot of jobs. The reason being that problems are a normal part of life but if the person is not able to solve these problems calmly and with a good solution then it’s useless. They might contribute to increasing the already present problem and might aggravate it even more which can obviously be bad for the company and cause them some major loss as well.

Self-motivated:

The business development manager should be self-motivated. Looking for more tasks to work on, finding new projects and bringing new ideas to the table should be part of his job and personality. Individuals with skills like these tend to help the companies improve and sometimes involve them in different yet exciting projects which help them even more. Challenges of Leadership

Every field and profession is good but one thing that we seem to forget is that with every good there is bad. Similarly, in this case where there are leadership opportunities available there are different challenges as well that the respective leader has to face and find a solution to as well because without solutions to these challenges he might fail and keep everything at risk. These challenges can be very minor and can be major as well at times. There are times when people warn others about the different challenges of leadership but the individuals are only able to understand it once they have faced the challenge themselves. Some of the common leadership challenges are listed below.

Increase in duties:

There can be times when in chaos or a very tense situation the individual holding the seat of the leader is handed over a lot of duties that he then need to fill in for. Since there are minor differences between management and leadership it is also possible that the leader has to perform and complete the tasks of a manager as well along with his own. This can cause a lot of stress and burden but if dealt properly and calmly, the situation can be controlled and the increase in duties can be handled smoothly.

An environment which is challenging and lacking support:

There can be situations and workplaces where the environment is extremely challenging. The individual has to prove himself every time and agree to complete the tasks himself. The individual might also have to prove why he took a certain decision and has to provide clarifications to his head all the time. Moreover, there could be a complete lack of support and respect in the office as well. Whatever decisions the individual is taking, he is not supported and always doubted and questioned regarding his work even it is great and has helped the company to grow.

Leading a Team:

As a leader, it might seem that leading a team is easy and simple but it is another challenge of this job. A team consists of different individuals with different mindsets and they might have conflicts and disagreements with each other as well. Making those individuals work on a project smoothly without any chaos or fight is challenged and needs to be done in a way that the output is the only accomplishment.

There are several challenges of this job but if steps are taken carefully and smartly a lot of these challenges can be avoided.
